Whew, the next few months will be busy! I have a few publications lined up, and if historical fiction is your thing, two of these stories might be just for you. I’m also entering new terrain with another short story appearing in an anthology. It’s a contemporary suspense, which is a little outside my comfort zone. I’ve only ever written historical fiction, so for this story to be getting published just boggles my mind!
Here’s what is coming up:
Running Wild Anthology of Stories, Volume 5
“A Midnight Waltz,” a historical fiction piece with supernatural elements, is in Running Wild Press’s Running Wild Anthology of Stories, Volume 5 along with stories from 38 other brilliant writers!
“For the fifth year in a row, Running Wild Press brings together fantastic stories from well-established to up-and-coming authors to bring you the best cross genre stories that don’t fit neatly in a box. This collection is comprised of 39 stories that arrived at Running Wild Press from all over the world from Hawaii to India, from Indiana to Scotland, and represents an eclectic gathering of storytelling talent. With twists and turns, these stories will take you through shared – and unshared – experiences of human endeavors, possibilities, impossibilities, and imagination.”
Praise for this anthology:
Jonathan Maberry, NY Times bestselling author of Glimpse and V-Wars, says, “Running Wild Press curates an incredibly wonderful collection of new and experienced voices, innovative storytelling, and diversity…and in doing so digs real gold from today’s literary landscape. Brava!”
Where Can You Find This?
New Reader Magazine
“To Own Her Body,” a historical fiction piece, will be appearing in the September 2021 issue of New Reader Magazine. This story was the most fun for me to write. It’s a sobering piece following a man named Alexander Courtenay, Viscount Belgrave on his wedding day as he pursues his runaway bride, but this piece is anything but a love story.
Autumn Noir: An Unsettling Reads Anthology
“Perdita’s Shoes,” a contemporary suspense, will be appearing in the Autumn Noir: An Unsettling Reads Anthology in October 2021. If I’m most excited for anything, it’s this anthology. Not only because my piece will be appearing alongside several other amazing authors, but because this is my first time venturing outside historical fiction. I’ve never written a story in the modern day (at least not one I considered publishable).
This story follows a grieving daughter who discovers a frightening secret when cleaning out her dearly departed father’s closet…
